PRESIDENT BUHARI CONDEMNS SHIRORO ATTACK, VOWS TO RESCUE ABDUCTORS

We begin the world news with reports that President MUHAMMADU BUHARI has condemned terrorists’ attack in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

You would recall that terrorists on Wednesday invaded Ajata village, a mining community in Erena district of Shiroro Local Government area of Niger State, killing no fewer than 19 people with scores abducted.

According to reports, the mining site located at Ajata-Aboki in Gurmana Ward of Shiroro LGA came under attack on Wednesday.

Apart from the attack which reportedly left 13 policemen and civilians killed with several missing, including four Chinese nationals, the terrorists also ambushed a team of soldiers who responded to a distress call.

The President in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, GARBA SHEHU described the attack as a direct assault on Nigeria which will not go unpunished.

He said that his government would do everything possible to ensure the return of those abducted in the attack.

The President also paid tributes to the military personnel who lost their lives repelling the attack, noting that their effort will not be in vain.
