The Amalgamated Arewa Youth Groups have protested against the awarding of the pipeline surveillance contract to Chief Government EKPEMUPOLO, popularly known as Tompolo.

Reports had emerged last weekend about the award of the pipeline surveillance contract to Tompolo, a former leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta which the Arewa youth groups had criticized calling for among other things the sacking of the minister of state for petroleum, Mr. TIMIPRE SYLVA.

The group’s spokesman, Comrade VICTOR DUNIYA while addressing newsmen at the protest said that the awarding of the four-billion naira contract to Tompolo is coming at a time when major parts of the northern region is bedeviled with insurgency and terrorists.

The group also issued a seven day ultimatum effective from Monday to the government to terminate the contract or better still shut down the Amnesty Office, adding that it will paralyze activities in the towers until its demands are met.
