TOMPOLO: NNPC RIGHT TO HIRE PRIVATE CONTRACTORS

Written by on August 30, 2022

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited says it has taken the right decision to hire private contractors to man its oil pipeline network nationwide.

The Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company, Mr. MELE KYARI, disclosed this during the 49th Session of the State House Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

KYARI argued that while the security agencies are doing their part, end-to-end pipeline surveillance would require the involvement of private entities and community stakeholders.

You would recall that there has been a wave of controversy and protests following NNPC’s move to employ the service of former Niger-Delta militant TOMPOLO to man oil pipelines in the nation.

MR KYARI also has accused government officials, religious leaders, security agencies and some staff of the nation’s crude oil theft, maintaining that the menace involves every member of the society.
