LEGAL PROCESSES DELAYING NIGERIANS’ EVACUATION FROM UAE – FG

Written by on August 23, 2022

The Federal Government has blamed long legal processes for the delay of the evacuation of over 300 stranded Nigerians in the United Arab Emirates.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Ministry’s Spokesperson, FRANCISCA OMAYULI in a reaction to some media reports that the Nigerian Mission in the UAE had abandoned some stranded Nigerians and is making it difficult for them to return home.

OMAYULI however said that the Ministry was working with the Nigerian Mission alongside the UAE authorities to assist stranded Nigerians in the country for various reasons, ranging from overstay, lost passports, and lack of documentation especially in the case of infants, to pending cases with the Emirati police.

The Ministry explained that the processes of evacuating stranded Nigerians for various reasons had to be finalised by the relevant Emirati authorities before repatriation.
