LAGOS BUILDING COLLAPSE DEATH TOLL RISES TO FIVE

Emergency officials say the death toll from the Lagos building collapse has risen to five.

You would recall that a seven-storey building situated at Oba Idowu, Oniru Street collapsed on Sunday in the Victoria Island area of Lagos.

As of Sunday, rescue operations had recovered two bodies while three more bodies were retrieved from the site within 24 hours.

Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. OLUFEMI OKE-OSANYINTOLU while speaking with newsmen said that emergency officials had recovered more bodies since Sunday and that the agency has been working closely with first responders and other officials within the past 24 hours.
