I Was a Victim of Justin Bieber’s Emotional Abuse – Selena Gomez

During a recent interview, while discussing her new album, American singer and songwriter, Selena Gomez finally opened up about her relationship with her longtime on-and-off ex, Justin Bieber. She said she felt she was a victim of Bieber’s emotional abuse, adding that coming to terms with the negative aspects of their relationship fueled her new album.
Their relationship was plagued by rumors and problems, but their over-the-top dates and PDA-heavy behavior proved the stars really cared about each other. However, the couple ended things in November 2012, citing distance and trust issues as the major problems in their relationship before reuniting in 2014. Consequently, Bieber moved on and married Baldwin in September of that year, thereby ending his love relationship with Gomez.
On how her relationship with Justin inspired her album,
Gomez said, “I felt I didn’t get a respectful closure, and I had accepted that, but I know I needed some way to just say a few things that I wish I had said.” She went on to say that while she felt that she had a beautiful relationship, it was very hard and she is happy it’s over. She explained, “I felt like this was a great way to just say, you know, it’s done, and I understand that, and I respect that, and now here I am stepping into a whole other chapter.”
She revealed, “It’s dangerous to stay in a victim mentality. And I’m not being disrespectful, I do feel I was a victim to certain abuse,” She confirmed that she felt emotionally abused by Bieber and went on to say, “I had to understand the choices I was making. As much as I definitely don’t want to spend the rest of my life talking about this, I am really proud that I can say I feel the strongest I’ve ever felt and I’ve found a way to just walk through it with as much grace as possible.“
