Governor of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi has stated that he has directed the Ministry of Justice to urgently prepare modalities for further decongestion of the Federal Correctional Centre, Ado-Ekiti.
Fayemi gave the directive in a statement issued on Wednesday by Special Assistant to the Attorney-General on Public Education, Media, and Communication, Tunde Olaolorun.
The governor further stated the order was in line with the state and federal government directives to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus in the state.
He also disclosed that the directive was based on the reasoning that inmates were likely to be more vulnerable to Covid-19 outbreak than the general population.
