The Department of State Services have finally freed the former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Dr Obadiah Mailafia after several hours of grilling.

Mailafia was released a few minutes past 6pm after six hours of questioning.

Mailafia had been invited by the DSS to appear at its office on Wednesday following an interview he granted to a radio station in which he accused a northern governor of being a commander of Boko Haram.

Mailafia arrived at the DSS office at around 12:30 pm and he was immediately ushered into one of the offices alongside his lawyer, Pius Akubo, SAN, while others who came with him in solidarity were barred from entering the premises.

Those, who were denied entrance, were later joined by placard-carrying protesters who demanded the release of the former CBN deputy governor.
