COURT HALTS IMPEACHMENT PROCESSES AGAINST OYO STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR

Justice LADIRAN AKINTOLA of the Oyo State High Court has ordered all impeachment process of the State Deputy Governor, RAUF OLANIYAN be put on hold.

The order was given today at Court 7 of the State High Court, Ring Road, Ibadan where it ordered that status-quo must be maintained pending the hearing of the application for interlocutory injunctions before it.

Recall that the case which came up yesterday was adjourned till today due to the absence of the legal counsel to the Oyo State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the House and Clerk.

According to Jamz FM correspondent, KAYODE SANNI, both parties were present in Court while the counsel to the Deputy Governor, SAN. AFOLABI FASHANU expressed satisfaction on the court order.

SAN FASHANU also noted the Oyo state House of assembly is expected to obey the court order hence any further steps remains illegal and contempt before the court.

You would recall that 23 out of the 33 lawmakers in the Oyo state House of Assembly wrote a petition against the deputy governor, Engineer RAUF OLANIYAN in a bid to commence an impeachment process to remove him from office.
