BREAKING: NLC Declares August 2 Nationwide Strike

Written by on July 26, 2023

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has given the Federal Government seven-day ultimatum to reverse all its anti-poor policies or face an indefinite nationwide strike.

NLC has fixed August 2 for the commencement of the strike if their demands remain unmet.

These policies include the recent hike in the pump price of petrol.

This is as NLC directed all its affiliates and state councils to immediately begin mobilization of workers and other Nigerians, including civil society allies, for a long-lasting strike and mass protests should the government fail to meet its demands.

It was gathered that the decisions were reached at NLC’s Central Working Committee, CWC, meeting held Tuesday, July 25 at Abuja Labour House.
