2021 AFCON Rescheduled Due to Unfavorable Weather Condition

According to Cameroon FA, host of the tournament, the scheduled date has been moved from June/July to January because of the “unfavourable” weather in the country at that time of year. Following a meeting on Wednesday with representatives from the Confederation of African Football (Caf), including president Ahmad, the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) tweeted,
“It [2021 Africa Cup of Nations] will be played in Cameroon from 9 January to 6 February, 2021. Date changed for weather reasons at Cameroon’s request.”
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (also referred to as AFCON 2021 or CAN 2021) is scheduled to be the 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, the biennial international men’s football championship of Africa organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). The tournament is scheduled to be hosted by Cameroon.
